Familiar Faces

Galway Bay Golf Resort’s team takes pride in offering a one-of-a-kind experience at our headland course – from our 2 Iron Bar & Restaurant to the phenomenal panoramic views.

We’re delighted to be such a popular spot where you can enjoy a round of golf on our 18-hole course as well as savouring a relaxing experience in our spectacular surroundings.

So much so, in fact, that we are always welcoming familiar and famous faces to our facilities.

Mick McCarthy

The former Republic of Ireland manager and player Mick McCarthy is one of the most iconic names in the history of Irish soccer.

He helped guide the Green Army to the 2002 World Cup finals and has enjoyed a glittering career.

Welcoming soccer royalty to Galway Bay Golf Resort was a real treat, and we hope to see Mick again in the near future.

Bill Murray

Bill is a true lover of golf – in addition to being a Hall of Fame caddy, he’s an avid golfer who loves to play on amazing courses. So, it was fantastic to showcase our gem of an oceanside course in Galway to him.

The weather during Bill’s excursion across our 18 holes was phenomenal, and we thoroughly enjoyed seeing him make the most of the venture – you can see how he teed off on the first hole here, and the rest of his round was equally accomplished. Continue reading about Bill’s visit here.

John McGinley

John McGinley visits Galway Bay Golf Resort

The famous American actor visited Galway Bay Golf Resort to experience our impressive facilities.

Known best for his role as Perry Cox in Scrubs, John C. McGinley has built an incredible career over the years, starring in a whole host of prominent film and television roles. It was fantastic to welcome John to our premises, and we hope to see him return soon

Denis Taylor

Dennis Taylor visits Galway Bay Golf Resort

The Northern Irish snooker legend swapped the snooker cue for the golf club when he visited Galway Bay Golf Resort in mid-2023.

Denis Taylors victory over Steve Davis in the 1985 World Snooker Championship is lauded as one of the best matches of all time.

Séamus Power

Pro Golfer Séamus Power is a recognisable face on the PGA Tour, and the Waterford-born player has long impressed spectators with his exciting approach.

It was fantastic to welcome him to Galway Bay Golf Resort to experience our Christy O’ Connor Jr-designed course. After all, it was designed to be rewarding, even for skilled pros like Power.

Joe Canning

They say the skills and hand-eye coordination required for hurling is mimicked strongly in golf – and vice-versa.

So, it was little surprise to see Galway hurling legend Joe Canning take so seamlessly to golf when he visited us.  Joe Canning has won pretty much every hurling accolade there is to win, and we thoroughly enjoyed showing him around our facilities.

Connacht Rugby Players

We love the province’s daring and talented rugby team, and we have always enjoyed welcoming Connacht Rugby to Galway Bay Golf Resort.

Swapping one code for another is rarely an easy feat, but the Connacht athletes always make light work of exchanging the hallowed turf of the Sportsground for our manicured greens and wide-open fairways.

Galway GAA Players

It’s always a thrill when a top athlete visits Galway Bay Golf Resort, and we have been lucky to welcome the superstars of Galway GAA football to our course.

Damien Comer, Paul Conroy, Cathal Mannion, and Pádraic Mannion stopped by to savour a round of golf at our headland course, and these serial winners enjoyed the experience of our challenging course.
